Drama and Movies Part 2

Talking about dramas and movies, I was recently 'updated' on the up and coming FFM25 award. In my opinion, this would be the most sought after award for the serious movie directors and actors. After all the judges are the experts in the field and not the raving fans who would vote for the actors instead of the acting. Well some of the die-hard fans anyway.

I am not much of a movie goer myself hence the first thing that I did was to download the movies listed in the top 5 movies of the year. Unfortunately I only managed to download and watch 2 out of 5 while one I have watched earlier on you tube (which was "OR" which I don't think much of!) And I must say that the quality of the movie are way better than the ones that I have talked about in the earlier posting. Especially "Songlap" and "Bunohan".

I have to admit that they are good. Good story line. Good cinematography. Good acting. Etc etc. No wonder both have several nomination in several catagories in FFM25. I must make myself free to watch this event on TV. Must find out which channel it will be aired. And I hope the movie "Bunohan" will get the most awards. It is not actually my kind of movie, but it has quality in many aspects. At least that's how I feel. (pssst...I have not even heard of the movies prior to this!)

And I am happy to note that Nadiya Nisaa is nominated as the best actress from her movie 'Jiwa Taiko'. Yeay! Whether she wins or not, she will still be my favourite! Hee....

As for best actor, my vote goes to Faizal Hussein from the movie "Bunohan".

Ha ha! Do I sound like an entertainment writer? This may be just a phase. And this may be the last I will be writing about malay movies and dramas...... I am sure that there are better things to write about. (Yes, there are!)

Well then, have fun peeps!

P.S. Current watch is the weekly drama on TV3 (or is it TV9?) called "Hanya Pada Mu" played by Beto Khusyary. No, I don't wait for it every Friday night. Of course, I watch it the next morning on tonton.com. Thank goodness for the internet :)
P.P.S. Are you UniFied yet? :D

Sweet Dreams

Ok. Let's see. Now that my retirement date is approaching, let's make a list of the places that I would like to visit. (do refer to my earlier post about things that I want to do upon my retirement. One of them is to travel)

Top in the list of must go countries are:
1. Japan.
2. Prague
3. Spain
4. Morocco
5. Canada.
Not necessary in that order.

Why Japan? Cherry blossom! Hee.... Didn't get to see the full blown cherry blossom when we were in Korea last year. And Japan is even more famous for the sakura or cherry blossom. And Prague? Well, I heard so much about how beautiful the place is from friends who has been there. So I must go there and see it for myself. And Spain it's because it's full of history from the Ottoman empire. I was never good in history when I was in school but I love to hear the teacher talked about all that happen during the earlier time. Renaissance Days, the Ottoman Empire, etc. And at the same time I think Morocco can be a stop over from the trip to Spain.

Oh! And Canada? I promise a good friend of mine to pay her a visit. I need to plan this really well as this is a trip that I will take my girls with me which means timing is important. Why? Because it has to be during the semester break since they are both still in college. Also I have to save a lot more as there will be 3 flight tickets needed.

As for the rest of the places, I can plan them with my friends.....

Well now that the fireworks is finally over, I can go to sleep. Tonight is the mark of the end of the Chinese New Year celebration for the year and they went out with a big bang. Literally. It was really a riot. The fireworks and fire crackers.

So good nite folks. Sweet dreams and have a good week ahead.

I shall dream of my dream destinations.....

Salam.

Dramas and Movies

Funny thing happened.

You know the epic drama 'Adam and Hawa' on Astro? Well, I was wondering what all the rave was about until I watched episode 55 (or was it 56?) posted on FB. Since then I started to watch the series on the internet (as I dont have astro mustika) until the end.

But that's not all. Since then I started to browse and watch malay telemovies and dramas on you tube or daily motion or what not whenever I have the time. I found some good ones and some bad ones. And I even started to watch out for certain actors or directors. I used to dismiss Malay movie and dramas except for the late Yasmin Ahmad movies.

Since I don't have much time to watch TV, the 'new' way of catching up via internet is the most convenient thing. I know I know. It's not all that new. My girls have been watching movies on the internet all the while and its been sometime since we bought our last DVD. But it's new to me. Ha ha.... Of course it helps to have 20M unifi at home. Hee....

Well anyway, after a number of dramas and movies (since that AH episode 55/56), I made a couple of obeservations:
1) some common characters in malay dramas are the 'talam dua muka'. More often than not there will be at least one bad character who would be full of 'hasad dan dengki'.
It makes me wonder, is this a common character among us in the malay communitiy in real life?
2) I watched a number of drama series with disppointing ending. We all knows even when writing an essay when we were in school that closing is very important to capture the whole essence of the story and leave the reader something to ponder with or a big nod of approval. That 'feel good feeling' is often missing.
So, do we need better script writers or are the directors partly to be blamed?

But I must admit there are some really good ones. Surprisingly, I enjoyed 'Pisau Cukur' and thought that Nur Fazura was great in that movie. Not much of a fan of Maya Karin I am afraid. Nor Aaron Aziz. Who both acted in the same movie. And I am not a big fan of 'Ombak Rindu' either. Sorry folks!

Anyway, just so you know, my current favourite actors are Nadiya Nisaa (love her since the movie "Cun") and Beto Kusyairy. Still catching up with all the Beto Kusyairy dramas and movies.

And my current favourite movie is definitely a movie called "Cinta" directed by Kabir Bhatia. If you have not seen this, then you must.

But of course nothing beats any of P.Ramlee epic movies. He is definitely a legend!

P.S. Have you watched the telemovie "XOXO" played by Nadiya Nisaa and Remy Ishak? If not, you should! She is a bomb! You can find it on you tube. Yet to watch her in "Jiwa Taiko".
P.P.S. Anyone needs a brand new DVD player? Its still in the box!
