Memories made in Heaven

Pictures paint a thousand words they say. For me, beautiful photos or paintings are a real pleasure. Although I have to admit that there some scenery that are simply too difficult to be captured on paper.

Nevertheless these are some photos that I take pleasure in seeing again and again from my trip to Canada and USA last year. (I promise to share photos from my recent trip to Perth soon).

My first stopover was Winnipeg. It was a cold city and didnt feel like its spring time at all. Nevertheless I had a good time staying with an old school friend with her young family. Photos above are places that we went sightseeing.

A week later I flew to Ottawa to stay with another old friend. We used to work for the same company and played a lot of tennis together. Ottawa was more colourful and a lot greener! What I love most was the tulips garden which I was lucky enough to see as it was on the last week of bloom. But the excitement of the week was the sighting of a wild bear with her baby in Gattenue Park.

And on my third week I was in Dallas with yet another good friend. (Good friend are also made in heaven!). It certainly was a lot warmer in Dallas and I was fortunate that my host took me to the Aboretum. Beautiful and colourful flowers everywhere that I didnt want to leave the park.

Anyway, I do hope you find pleasure in the photos above as much as I do. Nature at its best. Amazing creation by God Almighty.

I hope that I will have the opportunity to travel to other beautiful countries in the future. Will share the sights when I do.  InsyaAllah.

Trip of a Lifetime

SIt was a impromptu trip to Perth. A friend casually sent an invitation to her daughter's solemnization and it suddenly occur to me that I have not been to Perth. So I was telling myself, This is a good excuse for a trip to down under. And so happen my second girl was on a term break. ❤️

Some friends said that there is nothing much going on in Perth. I guess if you have been to Melbourne and Goldcoast then Perth may seems to be a "quiet" town. But personally, I enjoyed my time in and around Perth. The laid back lifestyle is very much my 'thing'. Plus there are wonderful parks and lakes as well as amazing beaches with white soft sand within a short driving distance or train ride away.  And of course, the weather in Perth is not severe as some other places that I have been. Very pleasant and mild.

Anyway, one of my personal "happiness" on this trip is the photo opportunities. I have bought a new wide angle lens specially for this trip in order to capture the beauty of the scenery. And I was not disappointed. I must say that I was absolutely delighted with the many beautiful scenes as well as the wonderful performance of the lens.

So, in the next few posting I shall share some pics and tell you you the few places that I have been to in the short trip.

Let me unpack and unwind for a bit before uploading the photos in the computer.

Till then enjoy the coming weeks and the rest of the month of April.

CONSCIENCE

I wonder if the furore over the introduction of GST has died down. Personally I find that its a waste of time to dwell too much on the subject matter as its one of those things that we just have to 'jump on the bandwagon'. And I am sure that there are other more pertinent matters that we can debate on.

I had an interesting conversion recently.

It was a casual after-dinner chat with my girls but it turned out to be a serious subject. The subject on "conscience". It is a subject matter which the girls' father used to emphasise on. And it came up in our conversation again and again.

Sometimes I wonder if some people are born with not even an ounce of conscience. Some can be so self righteous and appear to be the person that every parent want to take home as their daughter or son-in-law but they failed miserably when it comes to a simple act of 'be kind to others'.

In one of my earlier posting (read : rambling) I did mention once that Islam can be made simple if we follow 2 principles: 1. Keeping a good relationship with our Creator and 2. Keeping a good relationship with all His creations.

Unfortunately, there are those who pass with flying colours in Principle no 1 but sadly they failed horribly in Principle no 2. Just because it is not stated in the 5 Pillars of Iman or the 6 Pillars of Islam doesn't mean that it doesn't carry weight for the hereafter.

If what you are going to do seems good but it would inconvenient others then think again. Worse still if its going to hurt others. And you cannot use the excuse that you do not mean it or you do not realise it would affect others that way. It may work once but not every time. It actually can turn to be a malicious act. For pure self interest or personal greed.

It irks me when I see a car blocking the second lane while trying to cut Q in the first lane. And it doesn't take much to clean the table at a fast food restaurant before you leave. Actually, there are so many simple act of kindness that can make a whole world difference. And it would earn you"brownie points" for the hereafter. You just may never know that that one of the simple act is actually the one that earns you a place in Jannah!

Anyway, I had a good start to my Sunday today. A charity event called Rose2Rose Walk for Humanity. The euphoria from the combination of being out in park on a beautiful morning, chatting and laughing with your friends, as well as doing your bit for a good cause. ❤️

Happy Sunday folks!
