The Power of Prayers

Remember I talked about the series "Touch"? Season 1 has just ended. I kind of miss that boy Jake. So wise for such a young age.

In one of the episode he mentioned about the "Voice of Many" and the "Power of Prayer". And that is something that I truly believe in.

Have you read the "Book of Secret"? The book say, if you want to achieve or gain something you have to focus your mind and energy into getting it to the point of being obsessed with it. Hee....

For example your dream car or your dream job. You picture the object or the situation on your mind at all time, have the photos on table in the office or stick it on the ceiling of your bedroom so that automatically your whole being will be working towards achieving that goal. And according to the book the universe will actually react towards that energy and open doors to make it happen. Suddenly you meet someone who introduce you to someone and before you know it, voila! Your dream comes true.

The only thing that the book did not talk much is about the power of God Almighty. For us who believe in God, believe that if we pray hard enough, God may just grant your wish. If He doesn't, it doesn't mean that He doesn't hear you. Either it will come a little bit later or something better is coming along the way.

And what Jake said about the "Power of Many" is when instead of one person making a wish or making a prayer, imagine what would happen when many many people making the same wish or same prayer. Can you just imagine that? 'Solat hajat' or mass prayer is one really good example.

And not by coincidence mind you but by design. Call it fate if you want to but it's just meant to be.

Yup! I do believe in the Power of Prayers and Miracles.

"Wait" and you shall have no more opportunity

Happy to share with you thoughts by a writer Sun Yat:

Today, our house is getting bigger and bigger, but our family, smaller and smaller.
Life is easier, but time, less and less.
Our education level is higher and higher, but common sense, less and less.
Knowledge is getting more and more, but judgement becomes worse and worse.

We have more experts, but there are more and more problems.

Medicine has improved greatly, but health is becoming worse and worse.

We expend a lot, but have too little joy and laughter.
We drive cars very fast, but our temper bursts out even faster.
Sleep very late, read very little, view too much TV and pray very little.
Our fortune is doubled, but value reduced.

We talk a lot, but love very little and lies abound.
We learn how to lead a life, but we don't build up a meaningful life.
We extend our life span, but never increase life in our days.
We have taller and taller buildings, but lower and lower EQ.
We have wider high speed motorways, but have narrower viewpoints.

We spend a great deal, but own very little.
We buy more, but enjoy less.
We travel to the moon and back, but never bother to visit our neighbors.
We conquer the outer space, but have no clue as to how to control our prejudice.
We can dissect atoms, but are unable to remove our biased thinking.
We write more, but learn little.

More schemes, but little success.
We learn how to busy ourselves, but never learn how to wait.
Our income has risen, but morality, declined.
We produce more and more computers, control more information,
Multiply more and more copies, but our communications with others very lacking.
We produce more, but quality deteriorates.
These are times when fast food is aplenty but indigestion also common.
times when huge physiques co-exist with low and bad character.
More leisure but little happiness.
More food but less nutrition.
More double-income families but even more divorce cases.
Many more luxurious houses costing multi-million dollars, but more broken families.

I propose.  In such an era,
You do not keep what you want to do till a specific time to do,
Because the day you are alive and kicking is the specific occasion you should do.

Read more and obtain more knowledge.
Sit in your front veranda and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Do not have to be obssessed with life's mundane needs.
Spend more time with your families and friends,
Enjoy your favorite food.
Travel to places you like to visit.
Life does not depend on maintaining one's existence.
It consists of many happy occasions chained together.

Bring out your crystal glass,
Never keep your best perfume on the shelf.
Any time you want to use it, do so.
Remove "one day", "some day in the future" from your dictionary.

Go now to write that letter
The letter you want to write "one day".
Let us now tell our family that we love them very much.
Do not postpone anything that will bring you laughters, joy and happiness love "till one day".
Every day, every hour and every minute is all very special,
Also, you do not know if it is your last moment of life.
If you are too busy and unable to forward this email to people you love,
and you tell yourself "Wait till one day" I shall forward it.
In that case, please believe me "Wait till one day" you will never have any opportunity to do so.

TO DO list

Ramadhan is coming and it suddenly dawn on me to look back and take stock of what I have done since last ramadhan in terms of self improvement. What have I done better than last year. What have I done or achieve this year that I didn't last year. What have I gained in terms of knowledge. What have I done to get closer to our Maker. What have I done to prepare myself for the heareafter.......

Hmmm.....

I think I could have done better. I know I could do better. Even though workwise things are doing pretty well but somehow that is not my own personal thing and has not given me personal satisfaction. So, this coming ramadhan,  will make a check list of resolution to be followed through until the next ramadhan.

I want  to be a better wife, a better mother, a better sister, a better daughter and a better friend.
(As well as a better Leader and colleague in the office, of course). So I will have to make a To Do list. But first I have to list the things that I have done against the things that I could have done. I do hope the first list is more or longer than the second list.

Mind you, I will not share with you the list though. It would be too embarassing. I am pretty sure my 'DONE' list is so dismal compared to my TO DO list.

Oh yeah. That reminds me. You heard about the Bucket list? You know, the list of things that you want to do before you 'kick the bucket'? Well I better have one of that too. That maybe I can share with you but only if you share yours with me.

Hee....

It's the middle of the week folks. Have fun!

Life is a gift

Change is the only Constant

Change. It's often not easy. In fact it may be the most difficult thing that a person has to do. But sometimes in life, we have to do just that. That or face the sequences which may even be more trying.

For some, it's difficult to go along with the flow. And that's where the trouble begins. When you try to go against the flow depending how fast the current is, it will require a lot of energy and you will be in a lot of pressure and eventually a lot of stress. So you have to make a choice.

Nevertheless there are some situation where its worth fighting. When it's something that you totally believe in and you know that its the only right thing to do. You may be fighting a losing battle but you are happy with the thought that you have tried. Your concience is clear.

And of course, there is a third option. You can always bail out and call it quit. If you feel that going with the flow is not your thing and going against the rest is just not worth all the effort, then you may want to make a different kind of change. You may want to make sure that the option is available though before you decides to take this path.

Unless of course you already have a lot of 'dough' stashed somewhere.

Do I make sense here? May be not to everyone, but to some of you out there.

My friend, what ever path you have chosen, rest assure that I am right behind you to catch if you fall.

Because I know that you would do the same for me.

Good nite. May Allah blesses us all.

On line Shopping

Are you an auditory, visual or kinesthetic person? Huh?

Ok. An auditory person is a person who can easily understand with any explanation with just words while a visual person will need a more elaborate explanation with the support of visual aids, be it pictures, formulas, power point presentation, etc. Whereas kinesthetic person needs more convincing with the actual touch and feel of the goods or product.

Usually a kinesthetic person takes a longer time before making a decision because they not only need to visualise it but also to feel for it.

So, sales via telemarketing works very well with auditory people while on-line shopping works better for visual person. Kinesthetic people would usually go to the mall to try it out first before making a purchase.

All the above are called NLP (I talked about NLP some postings ago) and its very handy for sales people to have to clinch that deal.

Guess which one I am. Yup! I am a visual person. People in the office can easily tell because in meetings I would usually get up and start using the board to put our discussion in a visual perpective.

And you know what? Now I do more shopping on line than ever before. I only go out to the mall when my girls are around which is not so frequent nowadays. And I also take the opportunity of friends who travel overseas to shop for me. Its like having my own personal shoppers. Hee...

And I am totally happy with the arrangement. Unless of course, the outing to the mall is not just about shopping but also dining. Then to the Mall we must go! And I don't have to go far for that because there is a new mall just opened in the neighbourhood!

Oh, I do go out grocery shopping once a week. But I wonder when they will offer that service on line. Then I don't have to go out at all.... Tee hee

Have a beautiful Sunday everyone!

What? No shopping?

Funny how my friends reacted when they were informed that I did not do much shopping while I was in Singapore recently. Hee....

You see, I attended a 3 days conference in Singapore and usually this annual event would coincide with the Great Singapore Sale. And usually I would make time to take the opportunity to shop for good bargains. But this time around I did not even go to Orchard Road at all. Which sounded weird to some of my frineds who knows that I am semi shopaholic. Hee...

Well, to be honest, I wonder why too. Why I did not feel the need to shop till you drop like I used to. No no no! This time you cannot pin it on my age, ok. For I still love shopping as much as any women any age!

Well, maybe because I have been doing a lot of shopping on line lately. As well as through friends who travels overseas to US, UK or Europe where I can get goods at about 20 to 30% less that the price in KL stores. On top of that there is nothing really pressing that I need to add in my wardrobe.

My usual passion is for good quality leather shoes and handbags. But since I don't need to replace my formal working shoes due to my pending retirement, I have not been shoes hunting much. But you know what? I bought like 4 pairs of fit flop recently with 2 more on the way. All done on line where it cost much less than in the retail stores. I found that they are most comfortable for people like me who has knee problem. And they are pretty too compared to crocs. *grin*

But to say that I did not shop at all is a lie. I did buy some material at the shops on Arab Street. Afterall I stayed in a hotel which is right next door to all the shops famous for good quality materials like cotton and silk at reasonable price. To be honest I don't really know if the price I paid for is cheaper or not but what the heck, I hardly have time to shop back in KL anyway. And before I knew it, I had several bags in my hands. I had to literally stop myself when I suddenly remembered that I only brought a small cabin bag with me on this trip.

Once a shopper, always a shopper! Hee......

Have a wonderful week ends everyone!

There are two rows of shops and they are totally a different ambiance to shops on Orchard Road!

Just love the old achitecture which is still been maintained along the street.

Life Little Challenges

Suddenly I am hearing all the bad news around the world close to me. Before I could react to the latest 'bad' news, it dawned to me that this must be one of those God's little test to check on our iman. We must be the chosen ones. So we must be steadfast in our believe and faith in Him. Only He knows what is best for us. And He will never burden us with something that we are not capable to  face and overcome the challenge.

InsyaAllah

Job Rotation

I know it's hard when one has to leave the comfort zone and venture into a new unfamiliar world. New people to make friends with. New set of culture. New route to the office to be familiar with. New Boss too. But that's life. We have to go through it one time or another.

I personally have been in 9 different positions and departments in my whole almost-30 years of working. And I thoroughly enjoyed being in all of them. I have never regretted the move even though there were a couple of times when it was a 'surprise' move. Surprise here means I had no idea that it was coming. (Even though I question the decision I went along with the move and later had no regrets.)

But how does one explain that to your downline that a job rotation is essential and not make him/her feel that he/she is not needed anymore?

Yup it's hard.

Especially when it's not purely for unselfish reason. Afterall, we do need to train young executives and prepare for successors at the same time.

Yup. Job rotation is necessary. Sometimes we need new and fresh ideas. If the team can no longer think out of the box, bring in people from outside (the box!). In the hope that fresh new faces will bring in fresh new ideas.

Anyway, it's usually the case. Sometimes, we don't realise that something is good in the beginning because we are blinded by emotion. More often than not it's the fear of the unknown.

Oh well, though I am not looking forward to this, it has to be done. Someone got to do it. Someone has to break the news.

Just don't shoot the messenger please!

Monday Blues

Anyone else out there frequently suffer from Monday morning blues? I hope that I am not the only one. Monday morning is the hardest time to get out of bed and usually my brain seems to function a lot slower too. For some reason. Though not every single Monday.

Maybe it's the hectic week end. Sometimes the weekends is full of activities that there is not enough time to laze and relax. But sometimes the week end is so lazy that Monday becomes a chore.

So how do I overcome these moodswing?

Anyone used to watch the series Ally McBeal? It used to be one of my favourite program. I just love her quaint character and a few others in that series. (For those who do not have a clue, its a story about a bunch of lawyers). Anyway, she used to have a theme song that she would sing in the bathroom to perk her up in the morning. It was funny when she started to sing on top of her lung with a lot of gusto to bring her spirit up, using the toothbrush as a microphone.

So maybe that's what I need. A song by Usher that I heard this morning on the way to the office is a good one. It's very upbeat and make any listener feels like getting into the groove to the beat. But I have no clue as to the title of the song.

Something more sober that I have tried before is to arrange for a meeting on Monday morning so that my brain is forced to function and shift my other parts of my body straight into fifth gear.

I wonder if I take every Monday off, will I get Tuesday blues, you think?

So, anyone out there care to share how you deal with your Monday mornings?

Half way Hut

June is here. That marks the end of the first half the year. If you need to panic, now is about the right time. Hee....

Yup, time does fly very fast. But like my Chief Maestro said you need to be in control of the driver seat then it doesn't matter how fast it's going. Keep up the pace and you will not lag behind.

In the game of golf after Hole no 9 you get to take a rest at the half way hut before going on to the next 9 holes

For us in Sales, we have to take stock of what we have achieved so far and strategise or restrategise our way forward. It would be easier of course if we are already on track with the half year performance. Otherwise, it will be a bummer. What with the fasting month around the corner and Hari Raya along the way. And forget about December. What with the school holiday and all. Technically we don't have 6 working months in the second half of the year.

So there you go.....! Are we there yet?

Having said that though, do take time to spend quality time with your loved ones. Relationship with Family and Friends need to be nurtured as well. Know what is important and learn to prioritise.

And do celebrate every small success. It motivates into bigger success stories. Be it in the office or at home.

So, when was the last time you had coffee or tea with your family or friends and talk about anything and everything under the sun except for work?

Cheers!

To Love and Lost

One of my 'anak buah' went through a hard time after a broken relationship. None of us ask for the detail so none of us know the real reason for the break up. Every now and then he would show sign of regret and frustration. And all of us try to give him advice and such.

You know, to love and lost is better than never to love at all. Or, To love someone is to let go and if it doesn't come back it's not meant for you and if it does it will be yours forever. But none works. Thus far.

But I guess for the young ones it's something not easy to recover over a short time. It's one of those lessons in life that one has to go through and learn how to move on without a scratch. Err, or rather too much of a bruise.

Especially when it's first love.

Oh well, given time they will get over it. The young ones are resilient. They will bounce back in no time at all, I am sure.

Have a super week end peeps!
